A late 19th / early 20th century Siamese (Thai) silver betel set box, Bangkok circa 1900, possibly mark of Gong He
Of circular form with a gently domed pull off lid. All over with flat chased decoration of interlaced scrolls and rosettes with butterflies (phisuea), all reserved against striated and textured lines. Marked underneath with artisan mark possibly 公和 (GONG HE) twice.
Diameter – 15.4 cm / 6.05 inches
Height – 7.2 cm / 2.75 inches
Weight – 650 grams / 20.9 ozt
Gong He is mentioned as "Nothing is known about this silversmith" Bromberg, P., (2019), Thai SIlver and Nielloware, Bangkok: River Books, p. 196.
