A large George III sterling silver vinaigrette, Birmingham 1814 by Joseph Wilmore

Of rectangular form, the hinged lid with a scene of shepherd playing a flute while sat on a grassy mount, a dog at his feet, a goat besides him and a cattle in the background, all edged with trailing oak leaves. The underside with engraved oak leaves border. The sides with encircled rosettes bands. The gilt interior with a hinged pierced and engraved grill of flowers edged with trailing leaves. Fully marked between lid and base, the grill with maker’s mark and lion passant.

Weight – 63 grams / 2.03 ozt
