A MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURE OF A GARDENER, late 19th Century, after the original model by M.V. Acier, modelled standing holding a stick in his right hand, wearing a pale blue overcoat, elaborate floral waistcoat with a gilt lace trim, and brown striped breeches, his hat resting in the tree stump beside him containing three sticks, raised on a circular mound base with a formal border picked out in gold, 18cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised model no. F69 FOOTNOTES: The original model, produced in 1777, is illustrated by T.H. Clarke, ‘Marcolini Meissen Figures Engraved by Friedrick Elasser 1785-1792’ (1988), cat.74.
