A MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURE OF A LADY PLAYING CARDS, circa 1880, after the original model by M.V. Acier, modelled standing playing cards on a tripod side table, wearing an elaborate floral lace-edged gown, skirt and hat, raised on a round base with a Vitruvian scroll-moulded border heightened in gold, 16cm high, crossed swords mark in blue, painted numeral 47. FOOTNOTES: This model is illustrated by T.H. Clarke, 'Marcolini Meissen Figures, Engraved by Friedrich Elsasser 1785-1792' (1988), no.67, and by S. & T. Bergmann, 'Meissen Figures - Model Numbers A1-Z99' (2014), no.67. A similar figure was sold at Bonhams, 5 June 2013, lot 112.
