A MEISSEN TEACUP AND SAUCER, circa 1740, painted with chinoiserie landscape scenes within elaborate brown-edged gilt foliate scrollwork cartouches filled with Böttger lustre, gilt scrollwork borders to the rims, the centre of the cup with a further chinoiserie scene, the reverse of each with sprays of indianische Blumen, the saucer 13.5cm diameter, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue and gold letter H. to the footrim of both, impressed numerals (2) PROVENANCE: Private German collection.
