An early 20th century Burmese silver betel box on stand, Rangoon dated 1928
The box of cylindrical form with a pull off domed lid surmounted by a detachable cast figure of a female kinnari dancer. The interior with a removable tray. The stand of circular form with a shaped edge raised upon six cabriole feet. The box body with embossed decoration of vignettes of kneeling figures, interspaced with peacocks and reserved with foliate scrolls, the lid similarly decorated with vignettes of kneeling figures. The stand with vignettes of peacocks interspaced with Himaphan faces, all reserved with foliate scrolls. The underside of betel box engraved, “A. Cloudsley ESQR., Presented by H. Jones, G. Tun Aung GYAW. J. Meyer. G. Beale., L. Bellelty. 3.6.28”. Other wide unmarked.
