Part the Second., 12 engraved plates including 2 folding, some staining and spotting throughout, text block misaligned and trimmed with occasional loss to text, pp. 973-976 with small loss at head, signature and bookplate of William Strong to front pastedown, contemporary half calf over marbled boards, morocco spine labels with loss, cracking and loss to extremities, for David Henry, 1787.

***Featuring one of the earliest English printings of the American Constitution, beginning on pp. 1008-1011 in the November issue, and concluding on pp. 1110-1112 in the December issue. Also with Benjamin Franklin’s “Morals of Chess” and news of America’s Pennsylvania Society, then headed by Franklin in “promoting the abolition of slavery.”

William Strong served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1870 to 1880.
