Evelyn George Carey initally trained as an assistant engineer during the construction of the Forth Bridge, but in1883 he also began working as the official photographer on the project. Carey sequentially photographed the construction progress through the project's completion in 1890, at which point the Forth Bridge was the longest bridge in the world.
