A late 19th / early 20th century Anglo - Indian unmarked silver teapot, Madras circa 1900
Raj period. Of compressed circular form upon a spreading circular foot, the curved spout with chased peacock and foliate scrolls opposite a C scroll handle chased the same. The domed hinged lid surmounted by a detachable figure of a peacock. The body and lid with embossed and chased decoration of vignettes infilled with; a hamsa duck, Hanuman, a peacock upon a serpent, a Deva, a dancing figure, and a Makara. All reserved with rosettes and foliate scrolls, between bands of stylised leaves and rosettes with scrolls.
