The delicately-potted bowl with deep sides rising from a short, cylindrical foot, the exterior moulded with a band of slender upright petals, together with a box,

c.f. For a comparable bowl, excavated in 1963 from the Hebiji kiln site in Hebi, see 'Ceramic Finds from Henan', Hong Kong, 1997, p. 94, no. 65.

Another comparable bowl was offered at Christie's New York, 7th October 2005, lot 262, and another in the same rooms, 15th October 2001, lot 437, both dated to the Song Dynasty. A similar bowl is housed in the collection of the Japan Folk Crafts Museum.
