FOUR SMALL SELJUK SPLASHED POTTERY JUGS
Iran or Afghanistan, 12th - 13th century
Comprising four splashed white-ware jugs, each of varying size but of similar shape, with a bulbous body gently compressed towards the base, resting on a straight unglazed foot, rising to a flared, almost-conical neck with everted circular rim, with a curved handle on the side, the white, transparent-glazed body painted with vertical splashes of manganese purple and turquoise pigment, the smallest 10cm high, the tallest 15.5cm high.
