A William IV sterling silver gilt ‘castle top’ vinaigrette, Birmingham 1836 by Nathaniel Mills

of rectangular form with bombe sides of chased foliate decoration. The hinged lid with a cast scene of Abbotsford the home of Sir Walter Scott, with a chased edge. Engine turned base with a rectangular vacant cartouche. The gilt interior with a hinged pierced grill of foliate scrolls and a rosette. Fully marked and part marked to the grill.

Length – 3.8 cm / 1.5 inches

Weight – 27 grams / 0.87 ozt
