Chased decoration to resemble fur, the hinged lid engraved with initials OWG to JWG in flourished cursive script. Gilt interior. Marked to the lid and bezel with G.T and two pseudo marks.

Length – 7.8 cm / 3 inches

Weight – 55 grams / 1.77 ozt

A fox mask snuff box of 1830 by Mills of the exact same form is illustrated on the front cover of Crisp Jones, K., (1981)., The Silversmiths of Birmingham and thier marks: 1750-1980, Norfolk: Fakenham Press.
