TWO BRONZE BIRDS Circa 2nd Century A.D. or later Including a figure of peacock, with characteristic long tail feathers and curved neck, with a pointed downward-curved beak and a crest at the top of the head, 6cm high; and a stylised depiction of a cockerel, surmounting a ring attachment, with upright tail feathers and a pointed beak, 5.4cm high, (2) Provenance: Collection of Maurice Bouvier (1901-1981), probably acquired during his time as professor at the University of Alexandria, 1930-60. Maurice Bouvier lived in Egypt from 1930-1960 and was a professor at the University of Alexandria.
