A late 19th / early 20th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver three-piece tea service, Lucknow circa 1900
Raj period. Comprising a teapot, a milk jug, and a twin handled sugar bowl. Each of compressed circular form upon a spreading circular foot, the teapot with a spout modelled as an elephant’s head opposite a handle modelled as an elephant’s head, the hinged domed lid surmounted by a finial of a caparisoned elephant. The milk and sugar with handles the same. The bodies with chased decoration in demon pattern, each with C scroll vignettes of demonic figures reserved with foliate scrolls, below a band of trailing vine and above a triangular band. (3)
