A large George III sterling silver coffee pot, London 1767 by David Whyte and William Holmes

Of baluster form upon a circular spreading foot, the body decorated with embossed decoration of budding sprigs between foiliate scrolls, the foot similarly decorated, a band of sprigs to the neck. The spout with cast budding sprigs and bead work, with an acanthus bead terminal. The fruit wood C scroll handle with scallop shell top junction leading to a hinged domed lid with gadrooned rim surmounted by a wrythen finial, spirally fluted with an embossed band of budding floral sprigs. Engraved to the side with a later crest of a griffin’s head erased. Fully marked underneath and part-marked to lid flange.

Weight – 1194 grams / 38.39 ozt

The mark listed as "unregistered" by Grimwade. It would have been recorded in the missing in the 1758-1773 Largeworkers' Register.
