A PAIR OF JACOB PETIT PORCELAIN FIGURAL CONTAINERS IN THE FORM OF A SEATED SULTAN AND SULTANA
Attributable to Jacob Petit, France, mid-19th century

Modelled as two seated Ottoman Sultan and Sultana on octagonal cushions, both wearing gilt-embroidered flowered robes, the top of their turbans with a hole, the Sultan with the original stopper, seated next to a huqqa (water pipe) and holding the mouth piece in his right hand, the Sultana holding a flower on her right hand, a pink bird perched on her left hand, both bases with the maker's mark in cobalt blue J.P., each approx. 22.5cm high.
