A LATE CEREMONIAL BRASS EWER (RASKI)
Possibly Nepal or Himalayan foothills, late 18th and early 19th century
With A Peacock Finial, of globular shape, resting on a short splayed foot, rising to a ringed conical neck with everted circular mouth surmounted by a stepped finial with a peacock, with a sinuous and tapering spout on the side, its lack of a handle, overall decorative plainness and functional design reminiscent of Nepalese raski ewers used to contain holy liquids during special Buddhist festivities and religious ceremonies, 33.4cm high.
