Kashmir, North India, second half 19th century
Of circular shape, resting on a polychrome-painted flat base, surmounted by a dome-shaped lid, the polychrome-painted and lacquered exterior enhanced with typical Kashmiri decorative motifs including roundels with intertwined split palmette trellis and floral bloom, cusped cartouches with floral bouquets and scrolls, concentric circles of rosettes and fretwork bands, the interior painted in green, 20.5cm diam.
