Flamsteed House was the original observatory building at Greenwich and was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and Robert Hooke and built in 1675-76. John Flamsteed was the first Astronomer Royal and lived and worked there until his death in 1719. Shown here with the round dome on top of the pavilion on the right. The dome on the left had projections and was used as a camera obscura. These two domes no longer exist.
