A CLEAR OLIVE WOOD PORTABLE WRITING DESK
Jerusalem, Holy Land, 20th century
Of rectangular shape, on a flat wooden base, the olive wood body faceted, with a flat top lid with a key lock covering an inner rectangular section with smaller storage compartments for writing tools, inkwell, and rounded stamp, the sloping front lid opening out into a dark green velvet-lined writing slope and a gabled cover revealing two lidded compartments and document storage space, the surface of the exterior body together with the frame and layout of inner compartments carved from clear olive wood, on the sloping lid the central panel framed within a coloured woods-inlaid fretwok band and inscribed Jerusalem, 12cm x 28.5cm x 34.5cm.
