An early Victorian sterling silver three-piece tea service, London 1837 by John James Keith (reg. May 1824)
Comprising a teapot, milk jug and twin handled sugar bowl. Each of shaped circular ‘melonized’ form with shaped everted rims, all raised on four anthemion scroll bracket feet. The curved fluted spout with shell terminal opposite a fluted C scroll handle with ivory insulators. The hinged lid with domed centre surmounted by a detachable flower and spring finial. The milk and sugar with gilt interiors. Each engraved to the side with initials GRI in flourished cursive script. Each fully marked underneath, the teapot lid, finial and handle part-marked. The teapot with scratch weight 28:10, the sugar bowl 12:15 and the milk 8.18. (3)
