One of Britain’s great writers, satirists and stage directors, Sir Jonathan Wolfe Miller CBE first rose to fame with his comedy stage revue Beyond the Fringe, which he co-wrote and performed with Alan Bennet, Peter Cooke and Dudley Moore. After studying medicine and specialising in neurology during the late 1950s, it was the unexpected success of Beyond the Fringe that moved him away from medicine, into the realms of television and entertainment. In the 1970s he began directing operas including a “Mafia”-styled Rigoletto and writing and presenting over a dozen BBC documentaries. From being an associate director at the National Theatre to later running the renowned Old Vic Theatre, Miller established his status as a television personality and a public intellectual both here in Britain and the United States.

In later years, Miller’s creative expression further extended into the world of art, particularly sculptures. His artwork has been showcased in galleries such as Boundary Gallery and Flowers East.
