Neither the enigmatic nor the exotic is ever far from the surface of Marie-Louise von Motesiczky's work, and the present work evokes both in a very literal way. The specific source of inspiration for the present scene is uncertain, but this evening scene of four figures in a Chinese restaurant, two of whom are certainly Asian, seems to describe a particular moment in a fascinating meeting of Eastern and Western cultures.
