AN ENGLISH COMMEMORATIVE CABINET PLATE WITH BYRON'S BUST England, 19th century Of circular shape, on a circular curved foot, decorated with a black transfer printed portrait of young Lord Byron surrounded by an oak wreath, the two branches joined together by a coat of arms composed of a heraldic shield showing a bee, three groups of three arrows, a shield with a raised hand at its centre and the text 'BYRON' in capital letters, 'LORDOS' and 'BYRON' in Greek characters to the sides of the wreath, the rim of the plate tilted upwards, decorated with printed maritime symbols, roses, thistles, clovers and a chain with squared links, the underside of the plate with maker's mark in Greek characters and decorative vegetable twirls, 24cm diam.
