WW1 PALESTINE ALBUMS

WWI ALBUMS, BRTISH IN PALESTINE, c.1917-1918

A group of four snapshot albums, measuring between 160 x 115mm and 165 x 210, chronicling British Army movements in Palestine, c.1917-1918, and additional images from Egypt; three albums with a hand-written nameplate annotated 'RW Brooks "Holmleigh" Beccles' on the front endpaper. Comprising:

One album with (101) silver print snapshots, each approx 50 x 75mm (or the reverse), with handwritten title labels, depicting views of Beer Sheba, Bethlehem, Gaza, the Beccles Battery in action in Gaza, Remains of the Great Mosque Gaza, infantry movements, ships in Suez, Beccles battery group photographs; trench views, an observation balloon, and others.

One album with (49) silver print snapshots, each approx. 40 x 60mm (or the reverse), with handwritten title labels, depicting views of a camp by the River Jordan, Turkish prisioner groups, Jerusalem holy sites, the Jordan plain, hospital views, Gaza, and others.

One album with (97) silver print snapshots, each approx. 40 x 60mm (or the reverse), with handwritten title labels, depicting views tank machinery, Gaza landscapes, gun lines in Gaza, Jerusalem holy sites, Bedouin shelters, Egyptian portraits, dhows, and others

One album with (77) silver print snapshots, each approx. 40 x 60mm (or the reverse) of holy land sites, military manouevers, tank machinery, and others.

Along with one additional album with (16) snaphsots of unidentified European scenes in a similar album to the group.
