A POLYCHROME-PAINTED POTTERY EWER
Qajar Iran, late 19th century
Of pyriform shape, resting on a short straight circular foot, rising to a tall ringed tapering neck with an everted cup-like rim, to one side a curved handle and to the opposite side a tall spout, the cobalt blue and polychrome-painted decoration consisting of horizontal bands filled with interlocking floral sprays, birds amidst flowers, rosettes, foliage and vegetal trellis, 28cm high.
