Nathaniel Mills - A William IV antique sterling silver ‘castle-top’ vinaigrette, Abbotsford House, Birmingham 1837
Of rectangular form, the lid with a scene of Abbotsford House in high relief, reeded sides with foliate boarder, basket weave engine turned reverse with vacant cartouche. The gilt interior with hinged pierced grill of scrolls and petal burst, marked to lid and base, held within a leather case. Together with an Early Victorian vinaigrette, Birmingham 1837 by Thomas Shaw/Smith/Simpson Jr. of rectangular pillow form with seaweed engraving and vacant cartouche to top, the reverse with wriggle work engraved flower spray and zig-zags, the interior with gilt pierced hinged grill, marked to inside of lid and base.
