A rare early 20th century Anglo – Indian silver bowl, Lucknow with Egyptian import marks for Cairo 1919
Raj period. Of compressed circular form with convex sides. The body with embossed decoration in Pharaonic pattern, depicting figures such as the god Set besides a panel of hieroglyphs, the god Set holding a was-sceptre besides a large lotus upon a pedestal, pharaohs or high priests depicted with the crook and flail, each before offerings. All below a band of trailing foliage. The underside with a flat chased encircled symbol of Nekhbet. Import marks underneath for 800 standard minimum purity.
