A MID-20TH CENTURY IRANIAN (PERSIAN) SILVER INSET KHATAMKARI BOX, THE SILVER PANELS SHIRAZ CIRCA 1940
Of rectangular form with a hinged lid. The lid inset with a pined rectangular panel embossed monabbat-kari figures of a seated King Darius with fan bearers and emissaries, against a ring punch ground edged with flower heads. The sides with four similar rectangular panel similarly embossed. The inlaid khātam work of triangular pieces of bone, brass, and stained green bone. The interior lined with red velvet; the interior of lid ruched. Key deficient. The silver panels unmarked.
