Description:
From Saatchi Gallery, Loan of Art, pp.302 – “A 1996 graduate of the Slade School of Art in London, Reynolds developed a style that fused painting and sculpture. After painting simplified cartoon-like heads and figures on canvas, he made them appear as if they were carved from wood, like the rough-hewn work of Stephen Balkenhol. Reynold’s tiny brushstrokes cover their skin like carved facets, giving their faces life and depth, in stark contrast to their flatly-modelled bodies”.
