A cased Elizabeth II sterling silver cigarette box, Birmingham 1958 by Mappin and Webb, with French silver and enamel clock
Of rectangular form with stepped sides, the hinged lid with a shaped thumbpiece. The lid slightly later set with an applied square faced clock, the gilt dial with geometric Arabic numerals, and MAPPIN & WEBB PARIS-LONDON 8 DAY, edged with concentric bands of white then red enamel, Paris circa 1965 by Adolphe Cohen (reg. 12th August 1964). The box with engine turned decoration. Wooden interior. The box fully marked to the side and part-marked to the lid. The clock frame with assay mark for 950 standard silver and maker’s mark A C with an étoile (star), also stamped 4080. Housed in a later fitted case.
