John (Augustus)

Autograph letter signed ('Augustus John') to Sir W.D. Ross, Provost of Oriel College, Oxford, from 1929 to1947 and Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University from 1941 to 1944, saying "I have received the cheque for £420 in payment for the portrait of William Craster. I had written to say I was doubtful of being able to attend the handing-over ceremony on Sept. 23 but in case I can I note the change of place", one page, light creasing and folding marks, punch hole to top margin, 8vo, Fryern Court, Fordingbridge, 16 September 1944.
