TWO ENGLISH GILT PORCELAIN PLATES PAINTED WITH TURKISH LANDSCAPE SCENES

Comprising two plates of typical shallow circular shape, each with borders of gilt decoration encircling a central painting, the smaller plate with a river scene of Constantinople (Istanbul), signed in gold on the reverse 'Constantinople / Painted by R. Abbott', 22.5cm diam.; and the larger plate with a maritime scene, a Minton stamp to the back featuring a globe with a central band containing the company name 'Minton', surrounded by ribbons reading 'John Mortlock', 'Oxford St & Orchard St' and 'London', further marks including the impressions of 'Minton', and three symbols standing for the years 1874, 1880, 1890, 24.3cm diam.
