Arms, Armour & Militaria

Lot 69

A British 1796 pattern light cavalry trooper's sword, or sabre, which has been shortened in the foible, now having a 70cm blade. The blade has some edge nicks, suggesting that it was used as a practice sword after being resigned from service (perhaps when the next regulation cavalry sword came in) and the tip has been re-shaped and re-sharpened. The hilt is complete, though with some loss to the leather grip covering. Overall length 83cm.
