Charles W. Bartlett (British, 1860-1940), Agra, Caravan at Night

Woodblock print with artist's monogram CWB and title cartouche, AGRA, 1916 at lower right, signed in red crayon on the bottom margin, Charles W. Bartlett. This print was included in Bartlett's first series of woodblock prints published with Watanabe Shozaburo in 1916. Bartlett's own comment in his sketchbook noted 'The domes and minarets of the Taj Mahal stand out clearly in the moonlight.
