A rare Victorian sterling silver novelty vinaigrette and sewing companion, London 1875 by Thomas Johnson I, retailed by Walter Thornhill
formed as a dark lantern, with ring attachment as well as side clip, the front set with an Essex crystal in white of the name MAUD. The hinged lid opening to reveal a pull-out unmarked silver gilt sewing companion of a cotton reel with an integral measuring tape, sat within a needle holder collar. The hinged base cap opening to reveal a pull of pierced and engraved vinaigrette grill of a rosette. Fully and part-marked, stamped with registration lozenge, engraved to the front of base THORNHILL, 144 BOND ST.
