An early George III sterling silver coffee pot, London 1762 by William Shaw II and William Preist (reg. 12th Oct 1749)

Of baluster form upon a spreading circular foot, the cast shell capped moulded curved spout opposite a wooden C scroll handle pinned to scroll sockets with an upper shell junction. The hinged double domed lid surmounted by a notched bell form finial. Engraved to the side with a contemporaneous coat of arms within an asymmetrical rocaille C scroll cartouche flanked by foliage. Engraved underneath with initials B over H * M to M * H in Roman script. Fully marked to the side and with lion passant to the lid bezel.
