ALBUM OF CEYLON VIEWS, c.1880. Albumen prints (94), measuring between 140 x 100mm (smallest) and 220 x 285mm (largest), pasted page recto, some smaller prints two per page. Photographers include Skeen & Co. and Scowen & Co., some prints signed and numbered in the negative, with images depicting landscape views, ethnographic portraits, a fine view of a train at Sensation Rock on the Colombo and Kandy line, an elephant rolling an iron cylinder, and interior and exterior views of religious temples including Gal Vihara. Housed in a fine folio measuring 330 x 450mm, leather with gilt stamped border and initials 'MC' on the upper cover, with gilt edges and marbled endpapers.
