A POLYCHROME-ENAMELLED OPENWORK COPPER MOSQUE LAMP
Ottoman Syria, ca. 1880 - 1920

Of typical globular shape, with a protruding rounded extension on the base and tall conical neck at the top, with three chainlets attached from the hinges on the side and to a hemispherical plate at the top with a sturdy hanging hook, the reticulated copper body enhanced with green, white, turquoise, blue and pink enamels arranged in lobed medallions with flowers and grape bunches, arabesques, and interlocking split palmette trellis, 21.5cm diam. and 75cm high (when hanging).
