A PAIR OF GILT AND POLYCHROME-PAINTED BOHEMIA CLEAR CRYSTAL GLASS SPIRIT DECANTERS MADE FOR THE IRANIAN EXPORT MARKET

Comprising two clear glass spirit decanters, both of typical pyriform shape, resting on a twelve-sided flat base engraved with a stellar motif, the body faceted and rising to a tapering ringed neck with a wide everted mouth, each decanter accompanied by a faceted, spiky, gilt stopper, the gold and enamel-painted decoration on the body depicting an oval portrait medallion with the Qajar Shah, Nasir al-Din Shah, and the traditional Qajar symbol of the Lion and Sword (Shir-o-Shamshir) suggesting a special commission for the Iranian export market, each base stamped with a numeral in gold, '5' and '7', each ca. 54.5cm high.
