PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT PRIVATE EUROPEAN COLLECTOR
Iran, 12th - 13th century
Comprising four stonepaste ewers, each of different size but of the same shape, with a bulbous body gently compressed towards the base, resting on a straight unglazed foot, rising to a flared, almost-conical neck with everted circular rim, with an L-shaped handle on the shoulder, the white, transparent-glazed body painted with vertical splashes of manganese purple and turquoise, the smallest 10cm high, the tallest 15.5cm high.
