A QAJAR MOULDED POTTERY TILE WITH A FALCONER
Qajar Iran, late 19th century
Of rectangular shape, painted in manganese purple, turquoise and black on a cobalt blue ground, some details heightened in red, the decoration consisting of a falconer on horseback, stylised buildings and tufts of grass with flowers in the background, the upper band decorated with a scrolling vegetal tendril, framed in a stepped wooden frame, the back of the tile with a worn inscription, possibly 'Luigi Cox', 25.3cm x 16.7cm excluding the frame.
