A cased Victorian sterling silver standing salt and spoon, London 1893 by Carrington & Co

For the Salter’s Company 500th anniversary 1394-1894. Of shaped oval form with cast and applied handles formed as Bacchus and a Bacchanalian maiden, the body with embossed foliate scrolls and an applied rim of shell. All held upon a pedestal foot with four scrolling supports with mask heads, the oval base with embossed decoration. A cast and applied coat of arms to one side and a plaque to the other. Gilt interior. Together with a spoon, the terminal formed as the Salters company coat of arms, the shell bowl with gilt interior. Housed in an original case with velvet interior, branded for Carrington and Co. Each fully marked.
