An early 20th century Iranian (Persian) unmarked silver cigarette / cigar box, Isfahan dated 1926/27

late Qajar dynasty, of rectangular form with a hinged lid raised by a simple scroll thumbpiece. The lid with finely engraved decoration of two kingfishers atop of a brach within a cartouche reserved in sprays of foliage scrolls (golo morph) bordered with trailing flowers heads. The sides with engraved vignettes of figures on horseback, some depicting hounds and lions and dear. the underside with inscription 'JMC from MBH, June 1926/1927'.
