Including: two jars and covers, three bowls, three oil jars, an ovoid ewer, an incense burner in form of a shrine applied with figures and gates and a jar applied to the shoulder with two rats, 19cm H. (13)
Provenance: from the collection of David Scrase (1949 – 2020).
Renowned scholar and curator, David Scrase was Honorary Keeper of Italian Drawings, Honorary Marlay Group member, former Assistant Keeper, then Keeper, of Paintings, Drawings and Prints and Assistant Director (Collections) of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. An internationally acclaimed authority on Italian art, particularly drawings, Scrase published extensively and on a variety of subjects. His generosity was well known through the numerous thoughtful donations to the Fitzwilliam and other museums he made throughout his lifetime.
