Silver and Objects of Vertu

Lot 54

Set of Six Antique Sterling Silver teaspoons by Hunt & Roskell, London 1856. In Devonshire pattern, the handles crested with the head of stag, most likely that of the buck featured in the Cavendish (Duke of Devonshire) family crest, suggesting these spoons are likely to originate from a branch of the Cavendish family, after which this very rare pattern, designed in the second quarter of the 19th Century, was named.  Length 15cm / 6". Silver weight 232g / 7.5 troy oz. Provenance The property of a gentleman.
