Pavel Tchelitchew, surrealist painter and set designer, is best known for his highly imaginative and often surrealistic works of art.

Tchelitchew's work was heavily influenced by the Surrealist movement, and he was associated with a group of artists known as the Neo-Romantics, who were interested in exploring the mysteries of the subconscious mind.

His paintings often featured strange, dreamlike imagery, including distorted human figures, otherworldly landscapes, and bizarre creatures. He was also known for his use of bold, vivid colours and his mastery of texture and form.
