A George III sterling silver coffee urn, London 1794 by Henry Chawner (reg. 11th Nov 1786)
The urn shaped hot water body with half-fluted decoration upon a spreading circular foot. The pull-off domed lid with half-fluting surmounted by a detachable cast heraldic finial of a crest of a talbot’s head erased. The side opposable ring handles formed as talbot head masks. With a reed tap with a spigot with a stained ivory finial. Fitted to a burner stand via a bayonet fitting, formed as four reeded scroll legs with paw feet, housing a later removable burner (Sheffield 1848 by Creswick & Co). Fully marked underneath, part-marked to stand and lid bezel.
