An early George II sterling silver tankard, London 1727 by Richard Bayley
Of tapering cylindrical form upon a moulded foot. Strap handle with a heart shaped terminal with a moulded hinged leading to a domed moulded lid raised by a scroll thumbpiece. The body with a applied girdle. Traces of engraved initials underneath L over I*I. Fully marked to the side and to the top of the lid, engraved underneath wit scratch weight OZ * Pw 26:14.
